Tommy Gun Fun with Dick and Harry

I don't think I should find it funny but I heard on the radio, as I was writing my last post, that the American Vice President, Dick Cheney, accidentally shot a 78 year old man (several times apparently) while hunting quail in Texas. Fortunately the man doesn't seem to have been too badly hurt.

(Read the story here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4707354.stm)

It reminds me of the time when there was a newsflash on TV saying that Clive Anderson had been shot and killed by Noel Edmonds. (Chris Morris, Brasseye. C4)

It's a CRACKER!!!!!

I had the best craic about this with my American friends tonight! I was not believed for the longest time, and it wasn't until it was googled and read about that my story was accepted.

Of course, I don't want anyone to think I am laughing at the misfortune of another. It's the hilarity of the scenario that cracked me up, not the misfortune of poor Harry. Wrong place, wrong time, buddy!

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, one has to get the tone right with this sort of thing.

But it seems like the sort of story you couldn't make up. Maybe John Prescott would be the UK equivalent but his punching of an egg thrower wasn't half so dramatic. Americans always have to do things on a grander scale I suppose.

I tried to pre-empt the tabloid headlines with my title but didn't get around to seeing what the headlines actually were.

And why did you need to 'google it'? What's wrong with the link I provided to the BBC version of the story?
